I was just curious. I was surfing the net. I found Globe is controlled by the Zobel De Ayalas, this knowledge readily available at their site. Their Corporate Governance section (fancy term).

But when I looked at Smart, I found this is subsidiary of PLDT. And PLDT in turn is 31% owned by a certain firm First Pacific and the mysterious "Other Owners(includes public stock), 49%)

When I tried to follow the link to First Pacific, (Wiki) there is this Block Warning (whatever could they mean?) There was a time I knew the Cojuangcos controlled PLDT, but now I don't know if this is still true. Do you know?

Thank you, Tin, for the link. I think I tried that before. Their Corporate Governance is a jungle, too. Couldn't even find who is the present CEO, or inkling as to who the Board of Directors are. Or, may be, am just too lazy to follow every section.

Smart is 100% owned by PLDT.

PLDT is 31% owned by First Pacific, a HongKong-based corporation that is majority controlled by the Salim family of Indonesia. Manny sits in First Pacific as Director. The reason for the "other owners" is because PLDT is a publicly traded company, and is in fact listed in the New York Stock Exchange. Besides, a foreign company like First Pacific can not legally control a company imbued with public interest like PLDT. That would be against the constitution.

The Cojuangcos have long lost PLDT, when they succumbed to the offers made by Manny Pangilinan. Tonyboy was, for a year or so, given an honorific title, but was never in control from the time of the sale.

Manny Pangilinan is the man. CEO of PLDT.

Napoleon Nazareno (Polly) is the President of SMART.

Concurrently, Minuel V. Pangilinan is the Chairman Of The Board. He's the guy pulling the strings at the company. Next to him is Napoleon L. Nazareno, President & CEO. Manuel's the guy who's always at the papers regarding any major PLDT news.

First Pacific is owned by Manny Pangilinan and the "others" are the private individuals who owns share with the company, coz PLDT is a publicly listed corporation.

Just some info:
The MKP (Manggagawa ng Komunikasyon ng Pilipinas, PLDT's union) is under strike. Because 575 regular workers were terminated and 450 of them were women!

PLDT management doesn't care about their workers life. Those top PLDT management were sons and daughters of EVIL.
