Hi. im 13 years old. and i know how you feel. I used to HATE scary movies, and then i started to watch the non-gory ones, u know, the ones with the suspense & thats it. And after i started watching those kinds, i got into the stuff like SAW ... ;
What helps me when im watching a scary movie, is watching the
bonus features, and how they made the movie, then when i watch the movie, i think about how they made those scenes, but i also remember that it IS NOT REAL. & if this doesnt help at all, maybe scary movies just arent for you, but you're not the only one.

Hi, Baby. Like most phobias, the best way to handle them is through successive approximation. Get a magazine about movie special effects and watch how they create them. Read about the production process. Read some scary stories so you can get used to that part without the visuals. Try to get inside it so you can emotionally detach yourself from the movies while you're watching them, and you have a clear idea of just how unreal they are.

I think it's possible to overcome the fear, but why would you want to? Honestly, what makes those movies scary is that they deal with inappropriate topics and/or violence. I can't imagine why it would be good to desensitize yourself to those things. Instead of choosing movies just because everyone does it, choose movies that you find uplifting and enjoyable. I'm a lot older than you and I don't watch horror movies. In fact, a lot of people don't like them and don't watch them.

Find some Christian friends. Join a teen group at a good church. They don't watch scary movies.
