So here's a threaf for all you sadists out there with pet hates to name of rock/pop bands/artists that could die tomorrow without you losing any sleep over it.

Here's my list of people should cease to exist:
-Rod Stewart (a good stint with the Faces hardly justifies this man still being alive)
-Robert Plant (yawn)
-Johnny Rotten (love the Sex Pistols, but for some one who loves to call things irrelevant he sure hasn't done/said anything noteworthy/worth listening to for a few years)
-Pink Floyd (yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaawn)
-The Rolling Stones (early record enough to make them heroes, in the far distant past)
-AC/DC (probably should have all disappeared after Bon died)
-Paul McCartney
-Jimmy Page (That guys still alive right? What's that about then?)
-David Bowie (unless his live set includes only his very early material)
-Devo (neat guys but after allowing Devo2.0 to happen their existence also became pointless)
-Elvis Costello
-Eric Clapton (good case for euthanasia)

And of course Pete Townshend, sure could play a mean guitar in his younger days, but he apparently was lying about wanting to die before he gets old. What happened to that? Completely irrelevent as soon as Tommy was conceived.

Actually I haven't heard either of the albums mentioned in the first two posts. Although I honestly don't see the Plant collaboration doing it for me, glad he's doing something somebody likes.

And I only mention Costello because I haven't heard anything new that was excellent and he seems to be doing a lot of music for a more mateur audience, who needs that? But I'll check it out if you say so, and actually, if he still puts on a good live show I guess he has some right to life.

I agree with U2, although I'd put the same argument agains Floyd, every song I hear by them sounds just like the last. Although I am of course quite fond of at least a few of their songs it's hardly enough for me to personally say they're relevant to anything anymore.

To George G, I'm aware that many many people still love Led Zeppelin. But what I mean is they're contributing relatively nothing to new music and I don't think we needed most of the contributions they contributed in the first place. But it is an opinion question. And the Elvis Costello bit is mainly because as far as I know he's outside of my taste range, which makes him worthless to me, although I remember listening to My Aim Is True over and over the first weekend I got it.

I'm loving your answer Cody, I completely forgot about Bon Jovi. That guy's worthless eh? I agree with the rest of your selections as well. Wonderful answer.

Just to clarify something to the person who said they love Johnny Rotten, if you look in my list of top 20 artists in that question a few minutes ago you'll see the Sex Pistols and always would on my lists. Spectacular band. And while Mr. Lydon is good for a laugh now a days, he likes to be a tad contradictory and make outrageous claims and completely illogical arguments and as McLaren pointed out, he lives in California "Where rock stars go to die." while still acting like he's attached to the working class in some way. Nice guy, funny guy, crazy guy, but he could have saved a lot of people a lot of fond memories of the Pistols by shutting up awhile ago. But since he won't I'd love to see him keep talking and unintentionally entertaining us all with his antics.

* Eminem
* Michael Jackson
* Green Day

Note - Don't agree with most of your list. The Led Zeppelin charity event (with Robert "Yawn" Plant) drew 20 million UK ticket requests. The Rolling Stones' & Paul McCartney's tours still are profitable and popular. Elvis Costello continues to delve into various music genres & I think he's still an interesting musician/songwriter.

Pink Floyd? What?
They are and will always be legends, and David Gilmour just kicked out an awesome solo album so he's still incredibly relevant and has a purpose
U2 for me.... each new album that comes out just sounds like their previous one.

*edit
Well, if you think Pink Floyd's all sound the same, you haven't been listening to enough Floyd. Floyd is one of the bands you can argue has changed the most over time. They started off with psychedia, then moved on to experimental prog rock and then into the more organized jazz influced concept album, and it goes on and on.

Have you heard Plant's new collaboration album with Alison Krauss? I'm actually willing to call it his first and only worthwhile solo album (or rather, since it isn't solo, his first worthwhile post-Zeppelin album).
