I am really unsure if I should wear this shirt or not. Me and my GSA are sponsering ncod (national coming out day) at my school, we put up posters and are handing out ribbons and information, and stickers. I'm really excited about it, going all out of my way to paint my nails rainbow, and right NCOD on my forehead to support those still in the closet. I'm a lesbian, and I'm out of the closet, and I have this shirt I made that says I love girls. Would it totally go against everything if I wore it? I'm kind of uncomfortable at the idea of wearing it, of course I'd bring a sweater jacket as well, but I'm not sure if I should wear it or not. It just seems like a big decision. I made it myself, it's just marker on a tang top. What do you think? No rude/bigotish answers please. And happy NCOD! Can I say that lol?

Yes I'm in high school, a sophmore, and thank you all so far.

Happy NCOD to you too! If you feel comfortable, wear the shirt. If not, then don't. It sure doesn't sound as if you are the least bit uncomfortable with who you are. Good for you!

I do know that hgih schools (I am making an assumption that you are in high school) can be fairly intolerant places. My neice (being raised by her lesbian mother and me, her lesbian Auntie) recruited some of the male friends to wear skirts to school one day. You would have thought they turned up NAKED! What a fuss! By the way, the girls involved were wearing men's clothing and that was completely ok. I did call the press and there was an article on their protest against the dress code in the newspaper with a photo.

So, do what you wish but be prepared that there may be consequences. Personally, I believe love is beautiful in all its forms!

Like the first person who answered said, be prepared for ignorant, bigoted homophobes to criticize you. As for me, I absolutely support it. No one would say anything if you were straight and wore a shirt that said "I love boys"... in my opinion there shouldn't be a double standard. I am not a lesbian myself, but absolutely support GSA and NCOD. Sure, wearing the shirt may go against what society says is normal, but what is "normal" anyway? If you feel comfortable wearing it, then do so, but don't let the ignorant remarks of others prevent you from doing so. It's not your fault that some people are so immature. Good luck with everything :)

I would wear it... but be ready for ignorant people to say ignorant things, if you are already out... then it won't be a big deal... guys wear shirts all the time that say things WAY worse. Make sure it doesn't go against any dress code rules, if it's good, I say go for it... at least for this one day. :)

Bring a jacket just in case you get frustrated.

Good luck hun!

Why would you NOT wear it?
Just wear it, and if you feel weird wear a sweater.
Oh and Happy NCOD to you too! :)

I don't think it would go against anything at all, as long as you aren't pressuring those not yet out to come out before they're ready. It just shows that you're proud to be who you are.
