Gun advocates always say that, it's not the gun that kills, it's the people that kill, and that we should fix the people by helping them. On the other hand, this same audience typically favors invading a country with force before trying to work it out diplomatically. So, where are these kids going to learn the right lesson about guns?

Jeff- that doesn't seem to be working...

I would like to agree with Jeff, but I know that will not always be a safe bet. Some kids simply do not have active/good parents. In order to won a gun, you should have to take some type of course, etc.

While not all people are instilled with morals, they can be taught. If you are taught how to safely handle a gun, you are much less likely to go on a shooting ramapge.

Have you ever heard of an avid hunter going and murdering people with a gun...it may happen, but it is not near as prevalent.

Conservatives confuse me with the gun control/pro-war agenda, but that does not mean that we should ban guns.

that's hypocritical to call all human beings a hypocrite, quite, on account that all of us surprisingly lots are. even nonetheless i do no longer think of people who call us hypocrites are rather implying that they themselves are suited and faultless, nor do i think of they're stupid adequate to have self belief that they stay as much as their very own ethical standards and ethics completely. while they call us hypocrites that's in keeping with what they see--Christians preaching on the subject of the gospel yet no longer residing via it themselves. they're only calling interest to the undeniable fact that many professing Christians tell others they could desire to stay the comparable life they carry forth, yet in turn those Christians won't make any honest attempt to stay reported life themselves. For an occasion of what I mean evaluate why many human beings have issues of Christians. they're going to frequently point out the bloody history of the Roman Catholic church and the Crusades, or intercourse abuse, or outspoken weirdos like Westboro Baptist Church, funds-thieving televangelists, or different in-your-face obnoxious hypocrisy or atrocities. those all human beings is the generic public photograph of Christianity for many human beings and while they call us hypocrites that's because of the fact many professing Christians will brazenly admit they have a potential for trustworthy hatred that they do no longer remorseful approximately, or will exhibit as lots via their habit. Then there are people who call us hypocrites because of the fact we consume "unclean" animals because of the fact they have on no account study the Bible yet for some reason think of they comprehend it greater valuable than we do. :P

kids usually did learned it from there family, and in school.

but classes do help and the NRA does offer them

i just saw a report about a skeet shooting club from our local high school winning a competition today and was happy the children were becoming proficient and responsible by use of the guns under supervised conditions

You can't really compare the two. Militarily it's assumed weapons are involved, that's what wars are about. It is true though, people kill people. There are far more responsible gun owners out there than those that use them to commit crime. And I'm not even in the NRA!!!

hint; don't use the our government as an example for kids ... because they are not setting a good one

(contrary to Y!A above) war has yet to solve a single conflict in the history of the world ... it is always diplomacy in the end

Bush went to war to make money, and the US has done very, very well in that department ... and at the cost to the American taxpayer no less

Where did you get the idea that we invade before we try diplomacy?

Nobody on the loony left bellieves that.

Diplomacy is not only the first thing attempted, but we keep trying even while waging war.

We were in negotiations with Japan long before the first Atom bomb was dropped.

We told them we could do it.

We warned them we would do it.

We dropped leaflets to the people in the cities to warn them so they could flee.

We dropped the first bomb.

We told them "See, we weren't kidding".

We told them we had another bomb and would use it.

We dropped more leaflets.

We dropped the other bomb.

The Japanese said "Let's talk".

We've tried for years to work it out diplomatically, it doesn't work with animals like Saddam, Bin Laden, Ahmadinejad and the rest of them.

Criminals and guns do not mix. Law abiding citizens and guns do.

In Chicago, every street gang member owns an arsenal. Which law do you propose to disarm them? Yet our crooked mayor bans guns from within the city limits. Thus, who are the only unarmed citizens in the city? The law abiding citizens.

If everyone knew that if you pull a weapon other than in self defense meant ten years in prison, that may deter incidents. If you actually pull the trigger, 25 to life.

Maybe you need a history lesson. We DID use diplomacy first. Saddam just thumbed his nose at us.
