OK so i assume this needs to be factored, most probably. The first expression, p^2, tells us that the factored form is gonna look something like (p + ?)(p + ?)
The last expression tells us that the two ?'s are going to have one of them be negative and one be positive, because only a negative number times a positive number equals a negative number.
So now we have (p + ?)(p - ?)
The two ?'s are going to have to be factors of 30 which are:
1, 30
2, 15
3, 10
5, 6
Out of these, the only pair which can be combined to make 13 is 2,15 (10,3 might look probable but remember one of them is being subtracted)
so now we have (p + 15)(p - 2)
So the two values for p when the equation equals 0 are -15 and 2, because when plugged into the equation they make one of the (p + ?)'s equal 0, and 0 times anything is 0.
