Nod32, AVG and Kaspersky are the best 3, in fact some viruss can only be removed by these 3! They use low system resources too. I use both Nod32 and AVG 7.5 internet security on my different rigs but I recommend the AVG because Nod32 is not very user-friendly and mostly used by pros. You can get a free version of AVG but its not what the 7.5 internet security is and you can get that on Ebay for $30 for 2 years. I dont think 15 a year is a lot to pay.

My opinion - McAfee and Norton are most well known. I've used Norton for years and am pleased with it.

Free antivirus programs are pretty good for people who don't take chances and who don't spend too much time online, but they are in no way as effective as paid programs.

Norton and McAffee are by far the best in my opinion. As for free anti-virus software, I would say AVG and Avast are very good.

Kaspersky or zone Alarm I know to be excellent from experience, but I hear BitDefender is also good.
