I have a Dell Inspiron 8600. Just a week ago, I noticed a random purple line going vertically down the screen, it appears over everything (browsers and so on). I didn't think much of it, until a yellow line showed up. Now there are six lines, from purple to yellow. They're thin lines, so I can still see what I'm doing, but I'm afraid that they will eventually fill the screen. How can I fix this? What causes this so that I can prevent it?

I don't have a clue what the problem is but I do know that if I was having this problem, the first thing I would do is contact Dell. They offer pretty good support, have reps you can "chat" with, and have a community forum where you can "talk" to other Dell users. Before you make contact, get out your order number, serial number of laptop, model, customer number - anything to identify you as a valid user.

Go to the link below and choose your operating system, then choose video and download and install the newest driver for your graphics card. you can find out what kind you have by going to your device manger and clicking Display Adapters it will drop down and show you the graphics card you have.
