Are you speaking of correction, neglect, abuse, or hurting someone by not agreeing with everything they do or want? I can give you a moral answer concerning all abuse, if it qualifies as abuse, because intentions are definitely involved morally but every time someone is hurt intentionally by another, it is generally a lack of pure love. So, you must understand the context it is in to know if it is Godly love, rebuke, correction, and chastening for our own good to save our souls or if it is suffering for the cause of Christ and a persecution we bear if we claim to be Christians. I definitely believe when you deny proper loving behavior to another person that you will reap what you sow and so you would be hurting yourself, especially in a marriage relationship.
We cannot gage what is moral by comparing ourselves to one another. God's principals for how to treat one another if applied by the world would bring peace. Unfortunately, we will not see the battle between good and evil end until this world comes to an end.

What is the difference between "morally" and "ethically"? Ethics are an integral part of morals. And if you hurt someone, you have probably hurt yourself, as least in character or integrity. You might feel the hurt in your soul. On the other hand, if you disagree with a man who says you hurt him, it will be your conscience that must decide if you are hurt; or, if the hurt is more than emotional, a court may have to decide if you are destined to "hurt."

Intentionally hurting anyone demeans your own personal character. Even if you are the sort to find some pleausre in hurting others, you are still hurting yourself because you will never know the value of having any self respect.

It depends on who I hurt, if I hurt someone that I love then yes I am also hurting myself. But I try really hard not to do that. If I hurt a stranger then I do not hurt myself. Most likely because they either deserved it or I did it unintentionally.

Of course you do, whether you do it intentionally or not. Everyone is connected, that's why they say "what goes around comes around". It get's back to us one way or another. If we should do so intentionally, then the cause and effect are even deeper.
note: to hurt someone else, you have to be hurting in some way.

Sometimes I hurt someone "on purpose" as a way to protect myself from hurt they could bring to me if I "let them in". In that way, I am also hurting myself.
I live by my own set of "morals", not the mores of society. Following my morals as I do allows me to live in accord with my code of ethics. And keeps me happy with myself.
I am the only person I NEED to please, although I usually "try" to please others as well.
