In High School I was a loner. Bouncing from one foster home to another. I had alot of issues that the other kids were not even aware of. Things like, where would I sleep that night, what would I eat? Things that most kids take for granted.
My final year of High School, I ran away to the Florida Keys, I graduated and moved on.
I became one of only a handful of women to get a 100 ton Captains License. This was in 1987. I became a ships Captain. I worked in the oil field, I worked Marine Salvage, and I operated a commercial passenger for hire Charter Vessel.
Life has been good.
My next venture........My husband and I intend to develop a RV/ Fish Camp along the Texas Coast. We have already selected the property.
I intend to spend the rest of my days there, surrounded by fun loving adventurous people:~)

It's the nerds, and the weirdo's (perceived by the other pupils), and the clown, who are the ones that usually go on to make a great success in life. Unfortunately, the teachers often don't see the potential.

Yes, I was the weirdo! Why? My Dad was a minister/pastor and the kids all made fun of me. They would mock me with scriptures they did not even understand! I was under a microscope constantly as our town was not a large town! If I said or, did one thing, which "appeared" out of character for a preachers kid....I was verbally slaughtered. This was used against me by some teachers. as well!

In as much, I did not make friends at school and many thought I was a loser, in spite of my grades! My grades did not have to mirror my intelligence(A-C student) as it was a tool to dig at me in another way! I suppose what they were saying is that my focus was on the teachings from a minister and not the teachers!?? Who knows, why they chose to do this but, they only enforced my beliefs and my studies!

Now, I have owned my own business, very successful and allowed me to retire at 50. I have recently come out of retirement as I had a wonderful opportunity dropped into my lap and I went for this too!

I could tell stories of failure and accomplisments, on behalf of some I went to school; however, I do not wish to do to them, what they did to me, as a child!

Yep!!! My husband and I went to different schools, but were both geeks/freaks/weirdos/etc, as were our friends. He is 8 years into a successful military career, and I'm a professional photographer. We're happily married almost 5 years, own our own home, and are blissfully happy. We're not millionaires, we're not movie stars, but we're happy.

High school is only 4 years. It's rough, but you'll be amazed at how quickly a lot of the social issues fade into the distance after graduation, and moreso after college.

People who are "different" succeed all the time. Often times, the very bright kids (who are the most promising) turn into the class clown (or are considered "weird") out of boredom. (My son is one) Once the body matures completely as an adult and is one with the brilliant brain, those people are often the most successful! It's almost like an adult trapped in a kids body! If you are referring to yourself, don't give up! Your best years are ahead of you, I promise!

Wow, large question. I attended an all-women college and the female voted "MLTS" turned right into a staggering female who changed into 1/2-Asian. She rebelled adverse to her mom and father, shaved her head and became a "Moonie." (disciple of sunlight youthful Moon and that i do not care if I spelled it top or not). i don't understand that she ever went to varsity. i could imagine that is going to illustrate that it would not be counted who ELSE voted you to achieve success, notwithstanding the way you vote your self. i changed into contained in the proper 10%, did bypass on to varsity, proper of my type and as we talk earn a gentle income to say the least. you want to track out the outer impacts and be guided by using your inner aims. In different words, prevail because you understand you are able to, not giving a tinkers dam about what all of us else thinks! type of 1980. they don't look making 'em like us anymore, it quite is a shame.

Um, yes? Some people take longer to mature. Also, very smart people just don't fit in.

Check out the stories of most comedians, they were class clowns.

I was always a loner. I didn't feel that I fitted in, but it made me self sufficient. Being an only child didn't help either. Now I am a succesful A&E nurse and have a thriving photography business. I recently met a girl that was so-called girl most likely to in my class, and she was a check out girl and served me.
