Triptych is an altar piece in Catholic churches. It takes the form of a cabinet with two doors. The doors would hide the center piece, if it were closed. Usually, it is open, showing scenes of the saints on the doors and the Crucifixion of Christ in the center. There are frequently scenes painted on the back sides of the triptych.

Are you talking about a trip tik from AAA? If so, your local AAA branch will map out your trip for you with a detailed map, put it all together in a booklet for you with all kinds of stuff about all the cities you pass etc...the even highlight the map for you and mark where there is construction!
