I saw a video Maria Sharapova playing in Russia and it seemed to me that she went back to her old service motion. The one that was long and not the short one she used during the US Open. Why do u think she went back to her old serve instead if just keeeping the same way? I don't understand how she lost in the 2nd round because if u look at players like Elena Dementieva she has a terrible serve but can still win. Hopefully Maria can come back and be the Champoin she truly is.

I believe Maria can make 2008 her year. Right now, she's in an emotional and physical struggle and it's something every player goes through at one point or another. This year hasn't been horrible, but it hasn't been very friendly either. Sharapova suffered some huge losses earlier in the year that really affected her confidence. Once she injured the shoulder, it made things more difficult. She will likely make it to the year-end championships, and I hope she will make up for some of her lackluster play this year. She needs all the confidence and health she can get, in order to get back to the level she's capable of playing at. In '08, I think Maria will get herself back on track and might become better than ever.

I watched her match between Azarenka in the Kremlin cup 2007, and she didn't do anything special! She made poor serves, she wasn't agressive, etc. No wonder she lost! But I guess that's just because she's not in a fit condition right now, knowing that she's currently having a shoulder injury

2007 has been quite a bad year for her, she didn't perform well in Grand slams like Wimbledon & Us Open. lets just hope she quickly recovers

She's had a rough year on the injury front and from what I've read from other players that sometimes even after the physical injury may have healed the emotions that come in to play with an injury can be hard to get rid of for a time.

Sharapova is one of those players who possessed strong will to win, mentally tough. And her game is very physical, not necessary the natural talent type player. She has to work hard to win points. When she is fit, she can pound her way to victory, but when she's injured or slightly off, she will have very difficult time.
Let's hope she recover from her injury next year and fit.

It's just the way she plays. I actually noticed that every time she's playing well, the grunts are constant and loud. If she's having a very bad day and not playing well, she's pretty quite and the grunts aren't as loud.

i'm sick of the shoulder excuse. it's pretty pathetic actualy. she's had it all year apparantly and she's clearly getting progressively worse. i think the shoulder is just a minor problem to why she's losing.

i don't think she's a very natural player. she's very one dimensional and she's truly hopeless at vollies. it just seems like she stands behind the baseline and thoughtlessly wacks the ball as hard as she can. that's all there really is to her game.

but who know next year is a new year. i'd like to see her do well but i just don't see her getting much better.
