I have been experiencing severe abdominal pain due to my period. I went to a doctor a few days ago and had a very painful internal exam in which the doctor felt a lump. We did a cat scan and a ultrasound and found no ovarian cysts. I was checked for STDs a few months ago and it came back clean (no new partners since). She thought that maybe I was just having cramps, but three days later I am in a lot more pain which is now shooting down my leg in addition to my abdomen. I have had this pain before with my period, but now it is so intense that I can barely step down on my leg. I have an appointment on Friday, but I was just curious if anyone has experienced anything like this before? I'm so confused since the CT and ultrasound came back clean.

Could still be related to a cyst. Sometimes, depending on their size, the CT Scans and ultrasounds can miss picking out a cyst.

I had this happen to me in 2002/2003. It wasn't til I had surgery to check the status of one of my other medical problems in the female area that my doctor noticed I had a 4 cm functional cyst. She drained it.

This could also be related to endometriosis. It can cause pain both before and during periods and for some women (myself included) can cause pain after a period too.
