I'd pay off house and bills to bring about more financial security. Give some to family and friends, just to be a giving person. Spend most of it on things that I've always wanted but just thought were too frivolous to spend money on...clothes that are more than $20, shoes that cost $200.

unfortunately a million dollars is less than half a million pounds. I could only just buy a house in my village with that much. Its definitely not enough for me to be philanthropic, I would definitely keep it all for my family
So I reckon i could live like a queen in Goa though and last for quite some time on it- stress free no worries, good food, great beer, giant turtles on the shore and sunsets over the Arabian sea. No English winters from September til may and no rainy summers from June to august

I would go back to Ethiopia where I went this summer, and use the money for helping out the orphaned kids. They are the most amazing kids I have ever met and they definitely deserve it. I spent $200 on clothes and things for them the other night, so imagine what I could do with a million!
And when I came home, I would adopt a cat and a dog from an animal shelter :)

Charity, charity and more charity. There are just too many people suffering in this world. I couldn't spend that million dollars in good conscience if I knew some other guy was doing without.

It would depend on my age and state of health. Were I relatively young, I would invest the money either in a business of my own ( were I so inclined ) or in real estate, stocks and bonds. If I had only a short time to live I would spend some of it to make my remaining time meaningful and pleasant.
In any case, if I had responsibility for others ( family ), I would devote a substantial portion to insure their standard of living in the event I weren't around to take care of things.

the older you get the more you realize that one million dollars isn't enough, and it's certainly not enough to see you thru the rest of your life. And if you got a million dollars probably half of it would go to the IRS anyway, so you'd better wish for more.
I'd probably get dental work done, pay off my credit cards, invest in a new car, pay rent ahead, buy a house, and, if there was anything left I'd save it..

Assuming it was won or was an inheritance, there'd be about $600K after taxes. We'd pay a few large bills, pay my husband's car off, throw one party, indulge in a few new clothes, set up trusts for our grandkids, and invest the rest and pray that someday we'd be able to afford a house.

Invest 80% of it in a high yield account and 20% in a high risk account. Eventually invest in lucritive real estate ventures and build it up while using only the money you make off of the interest to travel. Materisitic stuff is irrelevant.

I would save half. For college. Since I have to pay for it. I would use $10,000 or less on a car. Put about $10,000 in savings for gas and insurance. I would also save $20,000 for tickets to visit my family. and the rest gifts, clothes, a pet seahorse and maybe a turtle & definitely a pig.

I would be grateful to God for I know that everything that comes to me come from Him, I would return 10% to God, I would offer some more to the church too then I would live a better life, commited to God and in accordance to His Sacred Words.
Of course I would help people around me too (but I would search in God for the wisest way to do so).
