I was, when I had my cards. I quickly racked up almost $17,000 in debt on eating out and buying stuff.
I bought 3 jackets, and never wear any of them. I stuck with the broken-in one that I'm most used to.
I bought 3 pairs of shoes. I also bought several pairs of jeans and a couple of track jackets. Never wear those, either.
I used to buy stereos, just like that. It got to the point where I was almost an expert on the industry, but I've finally found one that I like and will keep until it doesn't run anymore.
Man, having the cards was convenient, though. I needed emergency dental work on a wisdom tooth and didn't have insurance. *Poof!* Swipe the card. My car broke down and the repair was $700. *Poof!* Swipe the card.
I had a Citi card worth $10,500 and every time I went to the mall, if there was something I liked, I could get it. I went to Ben Bridge and *Poof!* swiped the card and bought a girl I had a crush on a $4000 solitaire Ikuma diamond... We weren't dating, so she didn't want it.
Later on I got a girlfriend, but she was kind of fake. I mean, I swiped the last few thousand on my cards on her, $1000 for a downpayment on a used car, $133 at Hollister, and several hundred on cigarettes and booze for her. That was it. She is gone, I'm in debt, want to go to college, but the bills are too high.
Spendaholic? Yes.
Oh, and I used to buy musical instruments a lot, like basses and guitars and amps, even though I'm not really good at them.

Unfortunately it's true, and I tend to have that compulsion when I don't have money to spare and/or when I'm stressed out. Perfect example: I have $12 in my checking account ( I refuse to touch my savings account) and I just floated a check for a new shirt, pants, shoes and earrings. :( I gotta stop, I know. But that's my one additive behavior. Guess a floated check is better than a DUI.
