is it in very early pregnancy?

and is there any other way to describe it? I don't often taste metallic stuff, so I wondered if there's another way to explain it...

Yes, it usually happens in the first trimester and it starts go away when morning sickness starts going away.

Some have suggested the "metallic taste" is due to minerals in your prenatal vitamins, but women take those all throughout pregnancy and that bad taste goes away after a few months.

So it must be related more to morning sickness, and therefore be caused by hormones. In my experience, it's not just a "metallic taste" but a bad aftertaste in general.

I notice it especially after drinking soft drinks, eating foods with sugar and other particular foods, so it must really have to do with what you are eating (and your hormones early in pregnancy make you esp. sensitive to tastes and smells).

It goes away eventually. I'm 15 weeks along now and it's not bothering me anymore.

I had it between 1st until 2nd trimester I was told it's from the iron in the perinatal vitamins. the metallic taste to me was more of a funny after taste have you ever tasted Listerine mouth wash and it has the funny aftertaste it's kind of like that funny enough I found that scope mouth wash cool miny kind watered down (to keep me from wanting to throw up) helped rid the taste right away I also had the metallic taste.

For me it didn't really happen until about 15 weeks and only 1-3 times my whole pregnancy. For me it tasted almost like you stuck a penny in your mouth.
