I've got 5 or 6.Gave up smoking in June 2 weeks before the smoking ban began.

Because they are considered smoking paraphernalia and he can't sell cigarettes to minors, corporate policy prevents him from selling anything related to minors as well. It's frustrating but he isn't about to lose his job to help you out. Your looks have nothing to do with whether or not you could be an arsonist. There have been firefighters that become arsonists. It's probably a cover the corporate butt policy but it's not a legal right to buy matches or lighters. The store is allowed to not sell whatever they choose to whomever they choose.

I don't smoke, but I use the lighters all the time because they are easier than matches.

Nope - nonsmoker.

The only lighters I own are the kind with the long barrel to light grills and campfires.
