I am good at math and science and heard that pharmacy was a good carrer. Is it? What is the salary in the midwest US? Are the hours good? Do you like being a pharmisist?

I don't know about the Midwest but in California, pharmacists make around 100k a year. UOP (University of the Pacific) is one of the best schools to attend. It is located in Stockton, California.

I worked in a pharmacy for 5 years. One of the benefits is sign on bonuses (usually anywhere from 10k - 30k) - there is a shortage of pharmacists. You will definitely have job security. If you do not mind repetition, then this is the job for you. It's not the most glamorous and exciting jobs, but the pay is excellent. You also need to be able to pay attention to details.

One of the most annoying parts of working in the pharmacy is dealing with addicts. There are people who are heavily addicted to vicodin, xanax, soma, ect., and they are found at any pharmacy you work in. They can make your job a little more stressful. You have to be firm with these kinds of patients.

Another disadvantage to working in a pharmacy is the schedule. Many pharmacies are open seven days a week. Many are also open late or even 24 hours a day. This kind of a schedule can get old after awhile. However, there are some non-retail pharmacies that have the traditional 9-5 schedule. They are just harder to find.

Just like any profession, there are a lot of pluses and minuses! I hope this helps.

Its a great career. The only decision you need to make is whether you want to work in retail of in a hospital pharmacy.
