One company I looked into said that I needed equipment in order to start doing voice overs. I've also read that I needed to go to school to break into the profession. Where do I start without being ripped off--I live in the Chicago area.

You can keep an eye out for voice over workshops at acting studios in Chicago and attend them. There is a voice over school in LA , I believe. The best way to break into the business is to make a good quality demo tape mad semd it with your resume and cover letter to agents.

Well, learn how to sing first. After you learn that, take some acting classes or a voice coach because they can give you info. to audition for things. Then get a voice-over agent. Google "Voice-Over Agents".
