The ability to cut your dream up into little bits so you can see them more clearly.
For example if you want to become a doctor you can dream and focus on becoming a doctor but how do you start? Well you have to go to med school, which means taking the MCAT, but before you take the MCAT you should study...
I think this is fun so I'll try another example-
If you want to travel South America for 6 months-> You need to know how you'll get around: motorcycle maybe? You'll also need to know something about where you'll go: Machu Picchu. etc.
After cutting it up you need the patience to carry out the first few steps. I can think of few things worse than spending 6 months studying for the MCAT or calculating the daily cost of traveling in S. America when you head is full of dreams of saving lives or climbing the Andes. Good luck!

I think it takes discipline. MY dream is not going to happen overnight. In order to get to where it is attainable I will have to sacrifice a lot and stay focused

A positive attitude, even when things seem bleak, keep the attitude positive. If you think positive, you will achieve the things in life that you desire.

Opportunity and motivation. Mix in a little 'willing to take risks' and there you have it.
