Anybody else been 'had' by the company Domway Ltd?

They seem to be targeting people who have got Lifeline insurance from the Carphone Warehouse.
Thankfully today I got a leaflet through saying about rogue traders are targeting people with Lifeline insurance.
I told my partner and we found out that the company that approached him with regards to his insurance cover 'Domway Ltd' are a fraudulent company.
Not so lucky is that my partner has already given them money!!

We contacted 'Domway Ltd' and the we had the phone put down on us and so we contacted Carphone Warehouse who have acted on it and passed it onto their Fraud department.

Just wondering if anybody else out there has had something similar? Supposedly the companies that are doing this operate from around the Swansea area.

Hope nobody else has had this.

xx

Talking to 2 lots of fraud departments within the bank and carphone warehouse, they have both said that what this company has done is an act of fraud. They could have the best website ever but what they have done is wrong and people need to be made aware.

I haven't heard of the company, but the registered office of the company is at Sun Alliance House, 166-167 St Helen's Road, Swansea, SA1 4DQ. The file at Companies House (link below) looks in order, although there have been a number of changes of directors over the past year. Accounts for 2006 were filed last month. You can order accounts and details of the officers direct from below with your credit card (will cost about £5.00 or so and can be downloaded almost immediately.

The trading address appears to be 27 Mansel St, Swansea SA1 5SQ and it is listed as a telemarketing company.

Tip : Directors don't like letters of complaint to their home address.

Addition: In light of D.S.'s comments : The company secretary is a professional service, probably used by accountants, company formation company or similar and presumably wouldn't know anything about the day to day activities of Domway Ltd

With PayPal itself, no... with an eBay seller I paid through PayPal, yes, but that was neither company's fault. The seller scammed me, not them. I've been using the service for over 8 years, and have only had that one issue. Not saying some people don't have problems with PayPal, but of the online payment processing companies out there, it's by far the best of the bunch, with the exception of maybe Google Checkout.

These are the details on the Companies House website:

DOMWAY LIMITED
SUN ALLIANCE HOUSE
166-167 ST HELEN'S ROAD
SWANSEA
SA1 4DQ
Company No. 05401265

So on paper, the company isn't fraudulent, as they are registered with CH and their accounts are up to date. This is not to say of course that their business practices are squeaky clean. I suggest you also contact Companies House with your evidence.

Contact your state attorney generals office(consumer protection division), its in your phonebook under gov't listings. They can cause great trouble for a company who is doing unethical things.--even shut them down. Your complaint has to be hand written--tell the story, and sign the bottom. Put your phone number and address on it--you'll be surprised how well this works--I was!
