An annulment means that, as far as the law is concerned, you were never married. You can get a divorce for any reason you want (he smells funny, she's a bad cook, you don't love him anymore, etc), but annulments can typically ONLY happen if there was fraud, bigamy, or mental incompetence.

If one of the people was high, too young to legally get married, or already married to someone else, you can get an annulment. If your husband didn't tell you that he had AIDS or that he was incapable of having sex, you can get an annulment. If someone held a gun to your head and told you they'd shoot you if you didn't marry them, you can get an annulment. Unless there is a legal reason that a couple should not have gotten married, one person lied about something really important, or someone wasn't in their right mind, you'll probably have to get a divorce rather than an annulment.

WHEN YOU GET AN ANNULMENT, THERE MUST BE A REASON. LIES OR MISLEADINGS OR CONTROLLING A PERSON ARE A FEW EXAMPLES OF HOW YOU CAN GET AN ANNULMENT. MY DAUGHTER GOT ONE WHEN SHE WAS INVOLVED WITH A CONTROLLING MAN THAT MORE OR LESS FORCED HER TO GET MARRIED AT THE COURTHOUSE. SHE EXPLAINED, VIA LETTER, TO THE JUDGE WHAT HAD TRANSPIRED IN THIS RELATIONSHIP AND HE GRANTED HER AN ANNULMENT.

A MARRIAGE THAT ENDS IN AN ANNULMENT NEVER HAS TO BE CONSIDERED A MARRIAGE.

A DIVORCE IS TOTALLY DIFFERENT. WHEN YOU GET A DIVORCE, YOU MUST CONSIDER EACH DIVORCE A FORMER MARRIAGE.

DIVORCES ARE MORE OFTEN AFTER THE COUPLE HAS BEEN MARRIED FOR A WHILE. YOU MUST SPLIT UP WHAT YOU HAVE ACQUIRED DURING THE MARRIAGE.

an annulment is when the marriage has not been "consumated", that is to say there was no physical relationship, as in two people getting married while intoxicated and not having the physical part before realizing it was a mistake. If annulment is granted, it means the marriage never took place and no one owes support etc. A divorce is the act of breaking up the contract of marriage. This means that property division, custody, support is decided in court.

A divorce could take a few weeks or even months to be final whereas an annulment can happen within days if you have been married only weeks or a few months then you can have an annulment!

An annulment means there never was a marriage so there would not be the responsibilities of splitting up marital property and spousal support. A divorce means that the marriage has ending and there will be a dividing of the property and maybe an award of spousal support.

In an annulment you are only married for a very short time.
In some states you can get a dissolutionment instead of a divorce if both of you agree on how to divide everything up.
Is it alot cheaper and your lawyer can do the paper work.

There truly should be a difference. Annulments should be for if two people who were inebriated decided to go to Vegas and get married, or something of that sort. Divorce is for people who thought they knew what they were getting in to, but came to the realization that they didn't marry who they thought they did - liars and cheaters.

the only distinction between a "weigh down" and "falling in love" is the point of dedication in touch by employing the guy who makes use of the two term. in the event that they call it a "weigh down" they're thinking the involvement is minor and passing, in the event that they use the term "falling in love," it potential that this is greater extreme and that they are thinking approximately making an investment time interior the courting.
