X=((180-X)*3)-20
X+20=540-3X
4X=520
X=520/4
X=130
Supplement=50
3* Supplement=150
150-130=20

You need to draw a picture of two supplementary angles. Then label one angle x and the other angle 3x-20

then set them equal to eachother

3x-20=x
combine like terms
2x-20=0
add 20
2x=20
divide
x=10

Now to find that angle substitute 10 in for x

3(10)-20
=30-20
=10

the supplement of A is 180° – A.

so

angle = 3*supplement - 20.

supplement = 180 - angle, fill in
angle = 3* (180-angle) - 20
angle = 3*180 - 3*angle -20
4*angle = 180 - 20 = 160 ; ( i reduce 360 )
angle = 160/4 = 40.

supplementary means they add up to 180 degrees
so Angle 1 (lets call it x) and the angle that is (3x-20) add up to 180 degrees;

180 = x + (3x-20)
180 + 20 = x +3x
200 = 4x
x = 50
ANS: one angle is 50degrees the other is 130 degrees

Now lets check our work...
angle x = 50 degrees
the other angle is 3*x - 20
3*50 - 20
150 - 20
130
Check:YES

Check2:
180 - 50 = 130
YES
