Also what kind of evolution has the human brain gone through to get to this point?

Hard to say. DNA sequence comparisons are probably the most convincing but paleontologists may say fossils/anatomy are most convincing.

the brain in higher primates has gotten bigger than the brains of lower mammals and humans in particular have larger brains (although larger is not necessarily better).

The DNA evidence (which includes, but is not limited to genetic evidence), is by far the most convincing evidence.

Even if not a single fossil had ever been found, the DNA evidence alone points unmistakeably to patterns of shared ancestry between species.

It's not just that two species are related ... it is that DNA gives us a quantification of *how much*. I.e. it isn't just that species A and B are related ... but that A is closer to B than it is to C ... and that A, B, and C are all much closer to each other than any of them are to D. The fact that these proximity relationships work for *every single species* we've examined ... and that what works for one gene or DNA sequence is not contradicted by other genes or DNA sequences ... is *powerful* evidence.

That's not to diminish the fossil record ... which is also incredibly persuasive.

But too many people think that it's all about fossils.

But it's the DNA that's the smoking gun.

How about the birds of the Galapagos Islands? Darwin found that they had evolved different kinds of beaks, depending on what they ate.

Bacteria and viruses evolving resistance to medicines is pretty good evidence.

How about me, I'm living proof. I'm just perfect. The only flaw is, when I see a mirror, I get lost in my own eyes.
