I don't normally work on cars.. I know very little about the mechanics of vehicles. I am looking to save money on repairs... I need as much information as possible for fixing or replacing the front Axles on a 1991 Geo Prizm. If you have any information, or if you can guide me in a direction where I could get this kind of information, it would be greatly appreciated.

Note: There is a clicking noise when turning. I had it looked at by a professional, but I didn't care for the price they suggested. So I decided I will learn to fix it myself someway or another. Please be very specific... I know very little about cars. Thanks You

The clicking is caused by the CV joint failing.

Most likely cause of failure is because of a torn boot.

Easiest way to fix is to replace the entire CV shaft(s), but you'll need a few good tools. Don't use cheapy tools when trying to work on the CV shaft as there is some high torque involved in getting the wheel nut off.

Since the 1991 Geo Prizm is basically a Toyota Corolla, here are the instructions with pictures on how to replace the CV shaft (also known as a half shaft)

Replacing the half-shafts requires a certain amount of expertise due to the involved process to remove and replace the units... it will also require 185 to 200 ft lbs. to secure the outer axle nut, to avoid ruining the spindle hub assembly....
A Floor Jack, Impact wrench, large pry bar, numerous metric sockets to include impact sockets up to 30, 32, 34mm... and
of course savy of the front suspension components that have to be removed/loosened to achieve this repair... good luck

goto a car part store and ask for the half axle for both sides and change them they pop off the transmission
first you will have to remove the tire and the brakes then u will see the half axles also go buy the repair book on the car and it will tell u what to do from there

it is very normal. i would worry if that did not happen. there is a differential in the final drive section of the transmission. that gear box allows one wheel to turn faster or slower than the other as needed. this is mostly on turns. you do not have a problem at all.
