I have taken up tiles in my kitchen and have been left with an unven concrete floor caused by the grouting under the tiles. I would like to put down laminate tiles and was wondering if there is any thing that can be put down instead of my chisling away all the groting?

I think you mean mastic, the adhesive used to hold down the tile, not grout which is like mortar used to fill in between ceramic or stone tiles. Really scraping away the old masic is best. You could buy one of the epoxy materials, the are often used to cover and fill cracked concret floors and driveways. Sold at most home centers.

it is probably the thinset youre seeing. using a top and bond will give you a smooth surface to restart with. ( grout is between tiles, thin set or mortar is under tiles)

Chip off all that you can. Leveling problems can be cured by skimming with thin set.
