This is currently being challenged by a teacher in Oregon that is licensed to carry but the school board does not allow guns in schools. What is your opinion?

I am sick and tired of students going into schools and shooting up the place. YES, let the woman carry a concealed gun. I wish all teachers did. Maybe I wouldn't worry so much about my kids going to school if I knew they would be protected. Maybe kids would stop bringing guns to school if they knew someone there might blow there freaking head off. I guess you heard there was another school shooting in Cleveland today!

I'm also licensed to carry a concealed weapon, but I still can't bring one to work with me. The permit allows me to carry it in public, but private locations can establish whatever rules they want. Schools may be public, but access to them is restricted (like airports) and so are the conditions of access, such as carrying weapons.

On the other hand, if students are so heavily armed, and checkpoints are so inadequate to prevent them, why would a teacher be worried about it? Just bring it anyway; who's gonna find out?

If there was some big Columbine shootout and a teacher blows away the shooter, what jury is going to convict the teacher on a basis of Policy because the poor misunderstood gunman didn't have his chance to waste a dozen MORE lives?

I think it should be allowed. I also think that the requirements to obtain a ccw should be stricter. You should have to attend classes on how to use it and how to retain it if necessary. too many people go and get a ccw and a gun and think that is all that they need. A gun is only frightening to people that are not familiar with them. A person whom is well trained can snatch a gun from an untrained person with very little effort. People need to be trained more in order for this to happen.

I think we should all be packing heat. That way if someone cuts you off in traffic you can send em to their dead relatives. It would also make it more interesting for people who cut into long lines at the movie theatre and grocery store. We should all have the ability to take the lives of everyone around us at any time given any of our whims. For the felons and criminally insane, we'll just give them knives and bats, so they don't feel left out. And every infraction of the law should be the death penalty, carried out by the witness citizens on the scene of the crime. Nobody would speed then, or make illegal left turns. People with a lot of money would be allowed to carry surface to surface portable missle systems to show off their bling.

Seriously, I think that it's crazy to bring a gun to a school. If this teacher thinks she needs a gun at school, she's already partially cracked in my opinion.

Those who want to go crazy with a gun will carry even if they are not allowed so I'm all for being able to shoot back.

Well considering the violent nature of a classroom in a public school...

If a teacher feels like one of their students is being a jackass and want to pop a cap in them, then of course they should do it. Nothing wrong with that.

Well, what can you expect, he's from Oregon.

There is no excuse for ANY student, teacher, or anyone else in the area to have a firearm. NO TOLERANCE means exactly that. There are far too many idiots out here in this world that own and carry firearms. Why would you think they belong in a classroom?

Sure. 2nd Amendment.
"You can get a lot further with a kind word and a gun than with a kind word alone."
