Yorkshire. York is lovely and Sheffield is great if you want to do some serious walking.
I took my wife to Warwick Castle when we were dating (she's American, I'm Scottish) and we had a great day. It's run by Madame Tussauds and very tastefully done.
It really depends what you want from your trip. Have you thought of expanding your trip to include Scotland? Edinburgh has the arts and history and is a good base for a golf trip. Many parts of Scotland have a lot of natural beauty. In case you are American and have been to the Adirondacks, much of Scotland is similar to that.

I live in England (Somerset) so I've seen lots of places. Where are you planning to go and what kind of vacation do you have in mind?
For nightlife London is the place to go, but it's a gray and dismal place beyond the nightclubs - and stay FAR away from the East-end - West is good, East is a hell-hole. If you want scenery and good beaches, go to the South-West of England; Cornwall is nice in Summer and there's good surfing to be had in Newquay (not that I can surf but it's great if you can).
The Isle Of Wight is one my favorite places, I haven't been there for a long time but it makes for a relaxing stress-free vacation and the pace of life is slow.

LOL! "Salsburg". I think you probably mean Salisbury MN Lady . ;-) Salisbury is a village in Wiltshire near Avebury and Stonehenge.

I would thoroughly recommend the North Norfolk area. It is a great place to visit with beautiful windmills, wide open beaches, coastal walks, world class birdwatching and tremendous wildlife, superb museums, glass blowing factories etc.
The area is famous for attractive villages, great woodland walks, fields of lavender, fantastic stately homes (including the Royal Sandringham estate), open heathland and one of the oldest national parks (the Norfolk Broads) in the UK.
Whatever your interest, they can be catered for in North Norfolk - Sailing, fishing, birdwatching, walking, sketching and painting or a cookery masterclass.
If you want to go there and see for yourself try http://www.thegreatescapeholiday.com
They can provide a beautiful self-catering cottage, stock it with local produce and even supply a chef to turn the produce into into high class cuisine. Just about anything that you could want. Or even leave you alone to have a great time.
Cheers Bigpathome.

Went to the little town of Salsburg. It is beautiful with cobble streets, little pubs and the most beautiful church you have ever seen. It is said that its steeple is the highest in England.
Enjoy your trip.
