Obviously it depends on the time of day. About two hours heading to Boston at Boston AM rush hours; 1 1/2 to 1 3/4 hours at other times.

RE:
How long does it take to drive from Boston to Portland, Maine, or vice-versa?
I already know that it's a bit over 100 miles, but how long does it actually take to drive, considering traffic, etc? I want to hear from people who actually drive it, not people who are just going to divide the distance by a given speed, which I could do myself.

1.5 to 2 hours. Avoid rush hour, where it would be crowded around Boston (rt 93 and 128/95), but any other time of day, it's easy. There are also tolls on the border of NH that can get backed up, but that is usually on the weekends, and not more than 30 min even in the worst times - Saturday mornings in the summer or fall. Overall, it's pretty easy and quick drive.

Boston has an abundant history and a varied neighbourhood; it has a heritage of arts, culture, and training; Boston has anything for everybody so find what Boston can provide you with with hotelbye . The three-mile Freedom Trail leads you previous - and in to - 16 of the city's principal historical monuments and sites. It's easy to follow along with, by the distinct red bricks in the sidewalk and by footprints at block crossings. The walk will take you to Old Granary Burying Ground where Paul Revere, Samuel Adams, and John Hancock are buried; can get you to King's Chapel Burying Ground, the Boston's oldest cemetery; Old South Meeting House where the ringing speeches of patriots spawned the Boston Tea Party and the Old State House, Boston's oldest community building and your website of the Boston Massacre.

I've heared a rumor. If you put your Pink Floyd Dark Side of the Moon cd and hit play after you pass the 2nd Check your Breaks sign on the Maine Turnpike from the Portland enterance you will get to Boston in the exact same amount of time but at least you'd get to listen to a great cd all the way down. Go RED SOX!!!!!!!

Point A to Point B - everyone else is right, about 1 1/2 to 2 hours, but don't go the highway! There's too much to see and do! There are some amazing restaurants, stores, museums, even some attractions are still open this time of year. stop and smell the, well, not roses, the money?

It usually takes just under 2 hours. However, if you leave in Boston rush hour and have to get through the city, it will take longer. My poor friend has a wedding to attend there last weekend and because of traffic is took her close to 3 hours. That is unusual though. I find myself there in around 1 hour and 45 minutes.

I generally allow myself two hours, but the drive often goes by fairly fast. Getting out of Boston can be rough if you are leaving on a Friday afternoon. Early on a weekend morning you can probably get there in under 90 minutes.
