From what I saw on the video, she most certainly deserved it and no, the cop should NOT be prosecuted. He doesn't have to put up w/crap like that.

Have you seen the video? Hell, I wanted to *****-slap her through the television.

It is an upsetting video to watch. However, I do think the officer gave this young woman many chances to put her hands behind her back and she resisted the whole time. It is not good to resist arrest. Even if you feel that you are being arrested unjustly or without good cause, it is better to cooperate at the time and then if need be you can get a lawyer after the fact.

It appears from the video that the young woman bit the officer and then he really got agitated. I did not see her bite him in the video but if she did then I'd have to say that she was pretty much asking for it at that point.

I hated to see the video. But it is simply not wise to resist arrest. It invites situations like this.

I hope the poor girl is alright. I'm sure she learned a lesson about messing around with cops, though. Once you're at the point where you're being arrested, you really just need to cooperate because some cops may just put up with your antics but others, like this one, may not.

First of all, You shoudl give more ionformation or a link for all those who haven't seen the video.

The girl did bite the officer, however I think he was "angry" and and bit out of control to punch her the way he did. Also he had no reason to use the peper spray at that point she was no longer resisting him.

He should have used the peper spray as a reaction to her biting him, instead of punching her. I think the officer should be punished accordingly, maybe temporary leave without pay, but he should be able to keep his job, as long as he had no other relative complaints.

btw, she did not commit crimes like an adult, the officer was detaining her for being out past curfew.

NOW, I have defended both sides in similar instances but from the responses so far people seem to think that the police shoudl have absolute control, when someone commits a crime. WRONG, even after a crime has been committed, people still need to be treated appropriatly.

All we hear is what sells papers and seldom the truth. Wonder if she bite, scratched, hit ect the police officer. What was she doing that got her in that situation? I do not give a damn about her age, gender, color or whatever. Respect for the law does not see color, religion ect.

People should have learned long ago to listen and do what police officers tell them. Police officers are trained to use overwhelming force in handling prisoners. The girl was resisting arrest and refused to be hand cuffed. It was all on tape.
I find no fault with the police officer. The perp was at fault.

It seems now that police and many people think that it is the job of the police to punish. We have separation of powers. The police arrest. A judge issues punishment.

I need more facts.

What happened BEFORE the punch and pepper spray?

That's essential to answering any questions about the incident.
