If you mean:

3/(x + 4) = 5/x then:

cross multiply to get

5x + 20 = 3x

subtract 5x from both sides to get

20 = -2x

flip it & multiply both sides by -1 to get

2x = -20

divide both sides by 2 to get your answer:

x = -10

(3/X)+4 = 5/X
X(3/X)+4X=X(5/X) -> Multiply X out to simplify
3+4X=5
4X=5-3 -> Subtract Both Sides by 3
4X=2
X=2/4=1/2=0.5 ->Isolate X by dividing both sides by 4

To check Answer Let x = 0.5 and see if the problem works out.

3/0.5 + 4 = 5/0.5
6+4=10

Hopefully this helps.

You have to multiply both sides by x so you'd get

x(3/x + 4) = (5/x)x

3 + 4x = 5
4x=2

x= 1/2

3/x + 4 = 5/x
4 = 5/x - 3/x
4 = 2/x
x/2 = 1/4
x = 1/2

3/(x+4) = 5/x => x = -10
If --you-- supply the details, then you'll 'understand' how to do simple algebraic manipulations the next time. And isn't that what you're supposed to be learning anyway?
