Her comedy seems to be geared toward anything that would or could offend. On a recent episode of her television show she joked about abortions saying that the last time she had one she kinda felt like it would not be the last time. She even picked up an abortion machine (whatever you call those things) and referred to it as "old friend".

Looking at her comedy objectively, I can see how she picks on some of the worst stereotypes on both sides of the issue. It does not seem clear what her stance is either, only that she knows it's a touchy subject and wants to push peoples buttons by appearing to make light of the topic.

Generally speaking I am attracted to extreme and very adult humor. But I can also understand why many people may prefer not to view such material. Part of me thinks that Sara Silverman is just using this type of shock humor to get people to pay attention to her. I am also willing to consider the possibility that she likes to explore social taboos.

Your thoughts?

I completely agree with you. I mean I'm kinda glad that some woman has the guts to go out and do that, however sometimes I feel like wow... that went a bit too far.

I like her sense of humor, her show is kinda boring, she has a knack for taking the word "inappropriate" too far and I think shes'e WAY hot. Ive only seen a small portion of her stand up routine.

Im not at all a Brittney Spears fan but the comment she made after her performance was in really bad taste and only made herself look like a hateful bitter person.

Another fellow jew,Groucho for "Nome de guerre", used to believe that although humor may not always make "sense",it has to remain funny, not grotesque.A different form of art.And a Jew should know well about the subject anyway.Even Woody or Brooks, would not tread deeper there without it.

Else is pointless rambling.
One can bite,but not gore.

I think sara silverman is freakin hilarious and i love her personalitly.
I respect that she does her own material and doesnt care who it affends if shes speaking her thoughts and maybe those people who listen to her will get a new perspective.
The abortion machine was a little over the top but thats not enough to not like her at all ya know?

seems to be a trend lately of comedians stepping into the shock factor for humor but it only works in certain ways.. sara silverman steps into uncomfortable subjects and instead of making them funny, it just makes the audience more uncomfortable..

Yeah, her whole schtick is that she can say things that no one else will say. She's 36 yrs old, you'd think she'd have more sense than that. I don't think she's funny and doesn't really use much creativity. Well, she did say one thing funny on the MTV awards about Amy Winehouse; "Oh, she's not Jewish? Maybe somebody should tell her face."

I think you're right on the mark. She's just another person being contraversial in order to gain more attention. I like some of her humor, but most of it I don't. (Not because of WHAT it is, but I just don't think it's that strong of humor... plus I can see that she just does a lot of it to get attention). It's like Rosie O'Donnel, Dave Chappel, and... well, I can't think of other examples right now, but you get the idea.

She definetly don't seem to care if she hurts anyone's feelings, I agree she does just seem to touch on these subjects just for attention, and I also agree she doesn't make a point on it either, meaning whether or not she is for or against it, I watched one of her shows about Aids, and I haven't watched one since!

I don't find her funny. I'm not offended by her because not much offends me, but I just don't find that sort of vulgar and out to offend comedy very appealing.
