I live with both and sleep with both, and have for years. I could not do without either; although I admit a companionship with dogs came to me late, even though I was raised with dogs.
My father usually had medium to big dogs, but my son once rescued a tiny little dog who lived with us for years and was such a character and so beloved that I discovered the joys and personalities of little dogs for the first time. His name was Spock because of his ears and I say his name every day since he's been gone because I still miss him.
Dogs are pack animals and usually hang out with each other and the humans they live with because that is their pack.
Cats are not. Usually if you live with cats they do not like each other, although individually they may like you. One must usually look for a dog, but sometimes a cat will find one. A dog will conform to your behavior and personality; a cat usually will not. The cat will expect concessions from the human with whom he chooses to live.
A dog will stay through neglect and ill treatment; given a choice in the same situation; a cat will not. Saying this is not to advocate ill treatment, which I despise. It is to elucidate a difference in their personalities.
Both animals will keep you company in loneliness, comfort you when sad, amuse you with individual quirks and antics, teach you manners and consideration and responsibility, and give you a life time of peace and belonging.
I could not choose one over the other; which is why I live with several of both, all rescued animals. You know yourself, which would enhance your life more? And if you can't choose, then you should live with both and the love you feel and the joy you receive will be increased to infinity.

Well being as though I am allergic to both. I m goin to go with dog! I love dogs I would love to have one. They are mans bestfriend. Cats are lazy and like to sharpen their nails on furniture, and u can’t walk a cat.
