Can you put yourself into character and do it because the character would? If that really won't work for you, there are little blowers that have sulphur in them, I don't know if they have an official name but someone blows it into your eye (just like air) and they immediately dry out the eye and cause it to tear up on the spot. If you can find that, it may work for you. If not, maybe you could put an irritant like onion on your finger tips and rub your eyes, but you're taking a chance that it won't wear off when you need it to. If you had a small baggie of it on set, rubbed your finger tips on it just before you went on for the scene that you eed to cry, then put your fingers to your eyes when you need to or just before.

I can't make myself cry, but I've perfect fake crying. If you can't make your self cry, I suggest that you should try to remeber what someone goes through when they cry. The do small gasps for air, they wipe their eyes, they look forlorn. So I suggest that you should parctice fake cryign in front of the mirror. The audiance is a few feet away from you, so they wouldn't be able to see the tears anyways, but if you can do a really conviceing cry, useally it's better.

You have to really be into character and really feel what the character is feeling. When you're in the moment it should come but if the tears need a little push then think of something horrible that would go with your character and blink until it comes out.

making yourself, the actor, cry by artifical means is a lousy way of acting, and I agree that affective memory is no good. What is good is acting. If you are being the character in the imaginary circumstances of the play and are reacting to the stimuli of those circumstances as the character reacts to them, you won't be able to help cry. often it is more effecting to try not to cry than to actually cry, and if you understood what crying is all about, you could simulate crying. But I recommend the first method.

Take a sniff of menthol. It will bring tears. I am a trained accomplished actress & I'm ashamed to say that I can still almost never cry on cue. Someone also suggested that you should pull a nosehair to bring tears to your eyes but that would require a lot of discretion!

yeah just dip your finger in a tiny bit of tabasco..don't put it all the way in your eye, just like almost on the edge ogf the inside corner. You will tear up and it 's not even in your eye..can't do it on stage tho...so just dump the whole bottle in your eye.
