Yes, but you need to make sure they have a lot of lotion on because their skin dries out faster than an adult's. I agree with you, though. Plus, it's part of their routine and it'll be harder to get them to do it everyday when they're older if it hasn't been insisted upon as babies and toddlers.

We bathe our 9 month old twins every night and we have since they were probably 4 months or so. They never had a problem with dry skin or hair. Our son was born with a full head of hair and has even more now. We use lotion if necessary in the winter but not very often. We bathe every night especially in the summer when they are hot and sticky. Even if the children aren't mobile, they still get hot and sticky in the hot weather. The bath cools them down. Now, at 9 months, they love playing in the bath tub with their bath toys. It's a fun time for them, and mom and dad can get them clean!

Mmmm, i agree with you I'm afraid,I bath my 6 month old every night, but i put a special oil in her bath to help stop her skin drying out, even though she doesn't do anything to get dirty, i just don't like the idea of her going to bed without a bath,i like her to have a clean, fresh feeling. But i think "each to there own", i know a lot of my friends don't bath there kids every night when there so little.

Yes, I do give my 13 month old son a bath every night and have since he turned about 9 months. The bathtime is actually part of his bedtime routine...he loves it, but when he's out of the tub, he starts to wind down. It doesn't seem to be recommended here, but my son has not had any issues with his skin at all...no rashes & no dry skin. I do not wash his hair every night...just the basics. And, he's not in a warm tub for a long period of time--that's what really dries the skin. Lastly, I do not use any baby products, so maybe this is another reason he does not have skin issues. So, he's clean, but just not lotioned or powdered up.

No I don't!
And my children DO go to bed being clean!
My 8 month old hardly gets dirty for heaven's sake - she's not out rolling in the mud yet and she gets a good wash every evening before bed, but I'm no soaking every square inch of her skin in water every ight because it gets too dry. She als can't tolerate a bath in the evening as she is too tired - unless I start it ridiculously too early which is just not practical - we have always done a morning bath.
Same with my 3year old - it's a wash before bed, of 'important places' as again, her skin gets too dry if soaked too often. She has a shower mid-week and a bath at the weekend.
Nothing nasty about my kids or their habits - please don't be presumptuous and remember, just because not everyone follows your beliefs about childrearing doesn't mean they are all wrong.

Yes...my two sons get a bath every night before bed, they rough house all day and get all sweaty and they still get their dinner on them sometimes too. (They are 3 and 1and a half years old)
Now with my 2 month old daughter, she gets her bath in the morning as she spits up alot and I want her to feel comfy and clean during the day...at night I make sure shes clean and put her in a nice warm sleeper.
BTW, I also put baby lotion on all three of my children after every bath, none of my children have ever had dry skin

I bathe my 2 year old every other night unless he gets drastically dirty and is in dyer need of a bath. However, my 12 week old takes a bath 3 to 4 times a week. I do have bathing clothes by huggies that foams up when wet. I simply wipe him down with those. Newborns typically shouldn't be bathed daily due to the fact that it will dry out and irritate their skin. hey do need their necks, hands, feet and other areas that get "cheesy" wiped down daily so that a rash doesn't set up.

Bathing every day is horrible for baby skin. Theyre skin is very delicate and can become dry, or overly sensitive from lotions and soaps.
Kids should be washed in the evening before bed, but bathing every night is equally as poor a choice for their skin as well.
Children can go to bed clean without having been through the tub.

I do because they usually get dirty enough during the day to need a bath. I agree, if we adults feel nasty not being clean, kids must feel the same way I'm sure!!!

Well, I bathe my daughter who is nine months every other night, and just give her a wipe down on the off nights. She's only 9 months, so she's not exactly going outside and playing in the mud or getting dirty. Once she starts walking on her own and playing outside, then I will start bathing her every night. Right now, it'd just be drying out her skin.

I don't bathe my son every single night- Like someone else said it dries out their skin and hair, I give him baths every other day, or if he has gotten especially messy after a meal or just played in the dirt or something, then of course he gets a bath. but the majority he stays clean, and gets messes cleaned up right after, and he is a perfectly healthy baby boy. It's unneccessary to bathe them every single night. even my dr. told me that.
