This is secret about female and all over the world , women always prefer to look younger then their actual age...
make safe guess, for example if you think she looks like 22-23 say i think you are 20
or if some one looks like 40 say i think you are not more then 30... they will so please with that and will tell you right age
never go other way round... means if some-one looks like 30 dont say that you look like even 32..
i am a woman so i know it works...

The proper way that I would ask would be " Hi what is the proper way of asking how old you are as I just simply want to know ,I will never tell a living soul without your permission .Noshir

Just don't tell them they look good for their age, We older women hate the "for our age" part. Just tell her she looks good.
