I am training to be a registered nurse and he is a deadbeat, but when I mentioned my course he started lecturing me like what I do is really easy and he started telling me how to do procedures - i told him i would be learning female catheterisation this week with a patient and he's like "oh its so simple just put lubrication in and do this" i said id rather wait to be shown by a professional than get mixed up with his information,

he plays down my career yet just sponges off benefits. Is he jealous, why would he keep making out that my work is meaningless and unchallenging? he has done this loads

I don't think he's as jealous as much as envious.
Jealousy typically refers to the thoughts, feelings, and behaviors that occur when a person believes a valued relationship is being threatened by a rival. This rival may or may not know that he or she is perceived as a threat.

Envious people lack another’s superior quality, achievement, or possession and desires it. They also feel that it is not possible (or not easy) for them to have what they want. Otherwise they would simply go get what the other person had, and they would be satisfied.

sounds like he is. if he's "reaping the benefits" if you working, he sounds like a deadbeat roommate... kick him out and find a roommate who will, at the very least, respect you and your job!!

He is insecure and enjoys belittling you to make himself feel better. This relationship is going no where. Dump him and move on with your life.

Probably because you sound like you are trying to make him jealous by making your career sound more special than it is.
