Not a bad question at all..don't feel stupid. As many people have chimed in before me, it simply means that one team didn't score any points. This is a very tough task for any team to achieve. Especially when most teams have kickers that can score field goals from the 50 yard line or greater. I hope this helps!

A team that doesn't score any points is shut out. I am not shut out cause I just got 2 points.

It means one team loses by not scoring ANY points...zero...The team that loses with zero gets shut out...

It's not good but We here in Pittsburgh enjoy watching our D shut out an opponent.
