I worked there once. My biggest problem is that they talk about a team work attitude but it does not really happen. I remember watching training films about how everything is supposed to be done. It showed one person working the grill, another getting the buns ready, and another person putting the meat on the buns and putting them up. Meanwhile, there were others that kept the fries going and other duties. Well, when it came to working, it was one person trying to keep up with all of it. Sometimes, a person from up front would come and give a hand when they could but that was rare.
I am not sure if this was a problem with McDonald's or if it was a problem with the management. I know that the manager was always concerned with getting his bonus and that he desparately wanted to keep labor down. Sometimes, manager bonuses will hurt business because it harms customer service. By not keeping enough employees on hand to handle things, customers will wait and have lousy service. This will chase customers away. They will go to where they can get good service.

Despite all the garbage answer you are going to get from this question the answer is yes.
If this is a first job and you are looking for some training, this is agood place to start, they offer a compeptitive wage, insurance, a employee lunch programand a working enviroment that is pretty good considering.
Although many people may have a bad eperience at a Mcdoanld's while working there this is mainly due to the managment.
While you may start off working outside cleaning a parking lot, empting garbage and cleaning floors, restrooms and tables and you might feel this as degrading everyone had to start there. You can start at the top, then you have to work your way up. This takes time. I know many of people that have been at McDonald's for over 15 years and are now managing the stores, I personally couldn't possibly hold out that long, but the fact is you are learning not only how to do things but how corporate business works. You are also learning how to take orders anf follow through with directions. even these little things will help you advance in life.
Sure there are better place's to work i'm sure. But they all start out the same.
AT THE BOTTOM!

whether or not McDonald's is a good place to work depends on whether you are employed by McDonald's itself or for a franchise owner. I have found that working for a non-franchise operation is far more benficial to the individual unless you are looking for quick advancement due to high turn over rates. Franchises tend to go through staff more quickly then a head office operation. Even though they must comply to the same set of standards, with head office running the show there tends to be more staff on the floor at a given time because policy not profits runs the operation on the corporate level. I now people how have be working for Mcdonald's corporate for going on twenty years and even though they did not advance either due to a lack of desire or proformance they stay because the work load is not as stressed or heavy. If you plan on participating in a business management feild or restaurant mannagement then there is no better training program out there on a private level. Even today McDonald's manages are sought after for other business operations because the training program is still recognized as one of the best offered in the world. But you still have to remember that any position with what ever McDonald's you work for is an automatic license to be abused by the customers. After all you do work for the biggest food service producer in the world and customers will expect only the best and will alwaus blame the one standing behind the counter regardless if it is your fault or not. During my time a manager i have had food thrown at me, been called every name in the book, ben threatened with physical harm you name it. Once a guy even blamed me for changing the Mac sauce 15 yrs before i was even employed by McDonald's. For the most part it was an enjoyable experience but i would advise it only on the short term. McDonald's managers and swing managers are amoung the highest ranking suffering from job related stress in the industry. Get the experience you need to get a better job then get out.

It can be good. I have worked for one here in Washington state for a year as of last week. They offer grade incentives for high school students, pay up to $125 towards college books, have medical, dental, life and short term disability insurance. I work at a 24/7 Mc Donald's. I work graveyards so I don't have to put my son in daycare. I recently turned down the opportunity to become a manager because I have seen several managers quit because they are so stressed out. The owners are breathing down their necks to keep food costs down and labor. If it is not busy they are supposed to send someone home early, and then they will get busy all of a sudden and then are short-staffed and have to deal with snarky customers. Assistant and store managers actually make pretty good money, and working for Mc Donald's is great for your resume.

No, It's not. I worked there for a 3hour OJE (On the Job Experiance, and it was really awful. If you want to work somewhere thats easy to get into and will give you good experience, I recommend The Warehouse.

McDonald's is a joke! They take advantage of their workers. They use border-line criminal tactics when dealing with employees. Any company the size of McDonald's that only pays their workers minimum wage, is a greedy, immoral company in my eyes.
