I found an old acoustic guitar that needs serious work, and I thought I could do this job. I've never done this so I'm looking for some resources. The back is split and cracked, strings need to be replaced (no prob), the keys are fine and so is the neck. Mostly the body needs refurbishing. Where can I find resources to begin?

To end up with something that sounds good requires some skill. You will need to learn about hide glue - which is melted from chips and which allows repair and taking apart musical instruments for later fixing and adjustment. The strings put major tension on the body and it is possible for a repaired unit to simply fold the body into a crumpled mess when the strings are tuned for the first time. Otherwise it is fine woodworking and finishing.
