I know what you mean. Years ago, when I used to install SKY TV, I had cause to park my van on the pavement. (It was a very wide pavement and caused no obstruction whatsoever)
The ladders were still secured to the top of the van and a passing old biddy shouted at me, "You should be more careful where you park that thing! You will have someones eye out with those!"
They were ladders for f***s sake! If anyone "bumped" into them then their eyes were no bloody good in the first place!

Sharp stick, no, but I have seen someone have their eye out !

When I was in primary school, we were playing on the beach, and one kid picked up a dead seagull, swing it round and threw it.
Needless to say, the bird wizzed right over to another one of our crowd, and he got the beak straight in the eye.

I can still hear him screaming. Poor sod lost his eye for life.

I should think that a good poking would cause the eye to go 'IN' rather than out n'est pas? No, I've never witnessed it... have you tried looking on Youtube?

No I have never witnessed it. Although I have gotten a pool cue jammed in my eye before. lol. This somehow reminded me of a bible story about Samson I learned. He got his eyes stabbed in when he was captured by the Philistines. Not fun. yep.

King Harold - 1066.

His last words were reputed to be
"stop waving that arrow about you'll have someone's eye out"
