Some will teach summer school or do construction type work.

Also, depending on what state you are getting your teaching degree in you may need to continue your education in order to maintain your teaching certificate. Taking on these additional classes is done during the summer months.

For instance the state of WI has high standards for their teachers and any certified teacher there has to fulfill certain requirements in order to keep teaching. However, in the state of CO requirements are much more relaxed and all a teacher really needs is a bachelors degree.

Hope this helps and I hope that you start doing your research for the state in which you live for such requirements.

Teaching high school is hard work. Enjoy your summers off. You'll need to recuperate. If you are sure you want to, only work about half the summer. Be a sub teacher for summer school. Work as a camp counselor. Tutor part time. Register to do temp work.

One of my college professors did a huge study of teacher moonlighting. Many teachers will work retail over the summer if they are not teaching summer school.

Teaching summer school is good pay, something you already know how to do, doesn't burn up the whole summer and may give you a chance to teach at a different grade level than you are used to doing.

Working in retail or working at a bank. Some work at day cares and some work at school all year around

You could take two extra classes for the driver's ed. endorsement and get some extra pay that way.

A lot of us work discount stores or go to temp agencies--some of the men do carpentry etc. and women do secretarial, etc.
