what do you think about pelosi's "we are up here and you are down there" comments? are you getting what you voted for? plain as day, she said the democrat base is "wasting it's time" trying to get what they want from the almighty democrats.

"We have to make responsible decisions in the Congress that are not driven by the dissatisfaction of anybody who wants the war to end tomorrow," Pelosi told the gathering at the Sofitel, arranged by the Christian Science Monitor. Though crediting activists for their "passion," Pelosi called it "a waste of time" for them to target Democrats. "They are advocates," she said. "We are leaders."

I couldn't find where she was quoted as saying, "we are up here and you are down there".

However, I do agree her comments are disturbing. The democrats gained a majority to lead and unfortunalty all I'm seeing is dodge and wait. If something isn't done in the next session we will likely lose seats, when most democrats hope we will expand our majority.

We want to see the Democrats address the issues which are important to us; healthcare, Iraq, energy and environment. What have we seen them address so far: NOTHING

I'm not a democrat, I'm a liberal, but I think both parties are ignoring the will of the people. 70% of the people want us out of Iraq. How's that working out? A majority are against illegal immigration, how that working out? I feel a majority would also be against changing social security and for reducing the national debt.

We need a viable third political party.

I didn't support the Democrats so they could 'end the war tomorrow'. I voted for them so they won't start unnecessary, baseless wars in the future. Perhaps, they might even do something for the citizens of THIS country. What a concept.

The Democratic voting base, is now and has always been the middle class, particularly union workers who want decent pay for the hard work they do in skilled professions. From Carpenters, to Truck Drivers, to Teachers.

It's what happens when you have no real ideas.
Democrats are not for the middle class and break down their support into groups. They get funds and count on votes from women by being pro-choice, minorities for supporting affirmative action and amnesty, gays for supporting gay rights, unions for not supporting school vouchers, and environmentalists supporting things such as not drilling for oil in Alaska and global warming. Their answer to all these groups is more taxes.

Haha! avail_sk... cindy sheehan disagrees with you! Oh, what he said is priceless!

ZardoZ didn't you learn as a child that sometimes you have to do things you don't want to, thank god our leaders did. Your priceless too!

She never claimed she was going to end the war, and what they did promise, they have done with exception of the things being blocked by republican obstructionists.
so yeah, I got what I voted for.

I cannot help but weigh in on Pelosi's comments about this S&M sex fest in San Francisco in which two men dressed in leather flogged each other in front of a Catholic church. Pelosi, a Roman Catholic grandmother, refused to even voice distaste with this behavior.

It just tells you that, for all the liberal posturing about how "most" of America wants us to pull out of Iraq, they know they can't without losing the elections in a landslide.

I say give the demos a shot...the reps have been stealing us blind selling our future out and lurking in the bathrooms....at least you know what you are getting with the demos.
