ron paul is to the republican occasion what the Blue dogsa re to the democratic occasion- a liar and a hypocrite who would not have the moral intwegrity to connect the occasion of his convictions. he has greater potential and status as a republican than he might ever have as a Libertarian, his authentic living house. he's so some distance to the perfect he's only approximately a liberal.

For some reason, they aired the debate last night on MSNBC. I sort of paid attention to the first 15 minutes before I couldn't take it anymore. Ron Paul actually sounds logical compared to all the other morons that were on the stage. I can't believe Rudy is running, he has no chance in hell to win ANY election. The democrats will win the upcoming election anyways, so you may as well not even vote, cons.

Because he really has issues everyone can relate too. He is not a rascist or isolationist. I think it was Guilliani with the rascist on his team or Hillary with the multiple scandals on her belt.
He just wants gov't to protect the liberties and lives of the people, nothing more. We need a productive society where people are encouraged to work not get handouts as Clinton proposes. We need to quit starting wars and use other means to build mutually beneficial relationships out of respect and admiration with other nations. The gun will never do that. Our troops need to come home to protect. I could go on forever. He falls really on all sides, he is republican maybe because unfortunately our current systems parties will not allow another party to take away their power or presence. The have learned well.

His belief in the "free trade" mythos (lawless capitalism in the mold of "A Christmas Carol" and "The Jungle") is more prevailant in the Republican party. Traditionally Democrats go for regulated capitalism, with Clinton being the notable exception.

He is exactly what Republicans were 30 years ago... limited government, no taxes and no social/moral agenda.
I probably won't vote for Ron Paul but he is true to the ideals of what Republicans once were... he didn't change, the party did.

Why don't you look into the Platform that Goldwater ran on in 1964 before spouting off, and compare it to Paul's platform.
I'm sure you would find some surprising similarities.

Actually he is far more libertarian.
As a democrat I would nto claim Ron Paul to have anywhere near a democratic view on any issue.
He ran as a Republican to get elected in his Texas congressional district.

There is a fairly wide schism between paleoconservative and neoconservative thought. Paul is a paleoconservative (much like the Republican Party that refuted FDR's claim to get involved in WWII). Paul is a paleoconservative 100% through and through.
Anthony is correct as well. Paul comes across as a libertarian in numerous regards.

He believes the government should be very small--like old-school republicans and small-government libertarians. His policies are similar to some of those on the extreme left (end the war, de-militarize) because he wants the Constitution to limit the government in scope and provide for the country's defense.

He is a RABID anti-abortionist. He also has some issues with black people. And he used to right for a rightwing radical magazine.
All the people who have jumped on the Ron Paul bandwagon out of sheer desperation really need to RESEARCH the dude. Not just read/listen to what he's had to say for the past six months.
