No, thanks, I already do have an important one (as Leonarda being my sister has it too), and sometimes it gets annoying, especially when others make a frequent refference to it.
But I'll tell you a relative story:
Some years ago a client of mine had a couple of whiskies (clients do have this right) at my office, and started losing control, inspired by the ambience, and expressing his subconcious wishes.
After having told me how much a knight he feels when he walks at night in the old city of Rodos, he asked me to name him a knight (for the protocol, I do have this right by tradition).
Of course I refused, explaining to him that this is nonsense, but he insisted and he wouldn't leave unless I fulfilled his demand.
Next morning I had to go to Court, so in order to get rid of him I told him to kneel down, I took a sword (I have many in my office) and touched both his shoulders with it, saying something dirty (what else?) in Latin.
Then I called a taxi and sent him home.
A week later he called and tried to explain to my secretary that he was the Knight Grigoris on the phone, and that he should have a special attention....
This is true 100% and proves the desire of many people for ranks and distinction....

1. All these people are actually offering to sell you is a change of name by deed poll, so that "Lord" would become your new first name. It wouldn't be a title, any more than the "Duke" in Duke Ellington is a title. Given that you can change your name yourself by simply writing out your intention to do so and getting a friend to sign and witness it (see the link) and any home printer can produce a certificate looking as good if not better than that, you'd have to be a prize sucker to pay them their asking price. It is legal - the sellers are correct that under English law you can call yourself anything you want, provided it isn't fraudulent (or obscene, or a few other things). And obviously, once you have officially changed your name to "Lord Dillon Hopelessly-Gullible" you can, indeed you must, put that on your passport and driver's licence and other legal documents, because that is now your name. (Why stop at "Lord"? Why not change your name to "Saint Dillon Hopelessly-Gullible"? Or "Pope" or "King"? They would be just as legal.) You ask "will it work"? Well, it would work in the sense that you would have genuinely changed your legal name, even though you would have spent an entirely unnecessary amount of money doing it. What it would not have done is made you a lord - you'd just be some guy whose name was "Lord". If you wanted people to believe you were a real lord you would, in addition, have to do a lot of lying. And even then, unless you're a talented liar not many people would be fooled.

Not unless it is accompanied by the suitable estate and income. Other than that, I don't need a title, I believe I have a noble character and that's what matters.

No, thanks. I have already had enough from my noble boss who answers this question too.
When I first joined the stuff of the office and I asked why some Italian clients asked for "his excellancy" over the phone, I was almost fired. Not to mention the spooky and scary paintings on the walls.
(Joking. He's the best boss ever :)
