Whenever we push the power button nothing happens. I checked the cord and tried using just batteries and still nothing. I took it apart and I don't see anything obvious. What should I look at next?

There might be a fuse blown, you might check carefully around the area where the batteries / power plug enter the unit to see if there's a fuse. It might be a cylinder wrapped up in a sleeve of some kind with two wires coming out either end.

If you are electronic savvy, i would personally try a different switch. it does not matter which kind as long as it as obviously two postitions. (ie on/off) and see if that helps. your pushbutton switch may not function the way its supposed to. if it is not the switch or cord, you may be dealing with a power issue, such as a bad wall socket? Try working around these options to isolate your problem...hope everything works out!

problem would be the power supply or the switch. Either won't be obvious by looking at it they need to be tested.
