When you hear the term "upset," you automatically think of some sports event that reminds you of the "David defeats Goliath" tale. What sports event do you think of when you hear "upset?"

For me, I think of when Valparaiso beat Mississippi in the 1998 NCAA basketball tournament. Bryce Drew buried that three pointer, to give his Crusaders the victory over the Rebels.

A close, and more recent second choice, is when the Appalachian State beat Michigan in Week #1 of the 2007 college football season.

Picture this: 1992. NCAA Final Four. Duke v/s Kentucky. Three ticks on the clock. Kentucky leads by one. Duke (Grant Hill) inbounds the ball over half the length of the court to one Christian Laitner. He turns around, launches the ball....it swishes through the net, the buzzer sounds. Duke and Coach Krzyzewski have stolen the game from Rick Pitino and his crew.

Chaminade basketball team beating Ralph Sampson and Virgina. Stanford beating USC is a close second. App. State was a very tough football team and the preseason polls had Michigan grossly overranked. If you say that Stanford was worse than App. State and USC was better than Michigan, isnt it obvious that the USC loss was the bigger upset? If Michigan had played Oregon first game of the season, App State might have been favored!!!!

Basically football in general. Tons of upsets through the ages, whether it be college level or NFL. The aforementioned Stanford/USC or the ASU/Michigan games from this year are perfect examples. Upsets can happen any day of the week with football, and that's why I think it's such a thrilling game.

Depends on the season for me...If I hear it from April 1 to Aug. 15 (or the start of college football) I automatically think baseball.....Anytime I hear the word 'upset' after the football season starts, I automatically think football, then college or pro, then who's playing. Then after I have ruled out any football possibilities I will remember baseball..
