Parent's Choice with Iron and DHA/ARA - it's the WalMart store brand. It has the same formulation as Enfamil with Lipil but it costs way less. And, it is manufactured here in the USA so you don't need to worry about low quality standards overseas.
My little girl (now 7 months) has been using it since she was a week old (tried breastfeeding for the first week) and she's healthy, has never had diarhea or any digestive problems, and she's growing really well.
Parents Choice is just as nourishing as the more expensive brands so we choose to save money on the formula and then we can have more money to spend on books and toys which is nourishment for her brain!

Don't listen to all of the breast milk only people. Breastfeeding is NOT for everyone. If you can do it, great. If not, formula is JUST AS GOOD. In my opinion the best formula is under the Similac family of formula. It's a little more expensive than the other brands but my research and own children's experience with the product are my reasoning for recommending it. Do not feel pressured to breastfeed. Do what's best for baby, yourself and your family.

Don't bother shopping around. Nobody has been able to prove long or even SHORT-term benefits from commerical formula over the old-fashioned "formula" of cow's milk + water + sugar.
If I was somehow forced to find a breast milk substitute, I'd look into homemade formula. Start here:

Do NOT fall for formula company advertising and buy into marketing BS about "comfort proteins" and other nonsense.

Well since you asked FORMULA...I won't say breastmilk.... It all depends..my child had to be on hypoallergenic formula until he was 6 months and I recently switched him to Soy....I would start off with the Carnation Good Start Supreme with Comfort Proteins though......Happy formula hunting.

Enfamila and Similac are both good and very similar. Nestle brands have a higher percentage of sugars in them.

Parent's Choice with DHA and iron- it's comparable to Enfamil Lipil with Iron, but way cheaper, a finer powder, and doesn't foam up when mixed.
And people, stop with the "Breast milk" answers! Yes, we all know it's ideal but it's HER choice and some people CAN'T breast feed!!!!!!! SO SHUT THE HECK UP!
