One contraction does not mean a damn thing. I worked in L&D throughout both pregnancies [ overdue with both, too ], and some days I had more contractions than the people we were evaluating [ and was more dilated too! ]
90% of babies come within 2 weeks [ plus or minus ] of their due date.
The 'not kicking' part is what concerns me - is she kicking, just not at the ribs? If she is, maybe she 'dropped', which is when the head [ we hope ] drops down into the pelvis [ anywhere from week 35 on, for first baby.]
If she isn't kicking, lie down on your side, and count movements for one half hour. If still no movements, call doctor or midwife.

I wouldn't count on her coming early. The average gestation for first time babies to healthy moms is 41 weeks and 1 day. So just be patient and enjoy these last few weeks. It is common for sensations, pokes, prods, and contractions to come and go and change throughout pregnancy, esp in the last month.
Once you have contractions that are getting progressively stronger and coming every 5ish minutes or less, that will be your sign that she is coming.
Blessings for a great birth whenever your baby chooses to come.

Contractions can happen at any week of pregnancy. It could be a first real one or it could be false labor. If your water breaks then you need to get to hospital asap. I had two babies born 5 and 5 and 1/2 weeks early. My child at 5 1/2 weeks, his lungs weren't developed completely. My child at 5 weeks was ok at birth, but has immune deficiencies, they both have asthma and get sick very easy and are on medication 9 months of the year. My oldest child I carried to term and is in perfect health. Better to take things easy and tough it out to the last week of pregnancy.

Lol. everyone knows that one mild contraction is the sign of early labor. lololol.
You'll have tons of contractions, all sorts of pains and pulls and pokes and kicked and all sorts of things. It doesnt mean anything more than the fact that you're very pregnant and your body is progressing its way to labor.
Your question doesnt indicate anything more than a normal pregnancy.
My son was completely engaged in the pelvis from 31 weeks until 39 when he was born. A dropped baby is not an indication of looming labor.

yes she is probably moving ito the birth canal however this does not necessarily mean you will have her really soon. Sometime your cervix can stay at a 1 to 3 for a couple of weeks before progressing to an 8 or 10 which is when you can push.

You probably had braxton hicks contraction last week. When you are in your final stages the baby is so big that sometimes you don't feel them as much as you used to. You should be seeing the doctor weekly now. He will let you know how things are going.

She probably is moving down getting ready to come but it doesn't mean that she'll be early. Some babys drops weeks before delivery some later. Good Luck.

she could have already "dropped" but that doesn't mean she is coming anytime soon. If you are having lots of pelvic or rectal pressure i would say it won't be long now but being that you aren't having contractions and she's just not kicking in the same place i would say you still have a while..

maybe maybe not...time will tell! babies move around and she may have turned a bit and that could be why she isnt under your ribs anymore. My doctor told me my girl was coming early and ended up being comfy in there and was actually late! Congratulations and God bless you and your new little princess!

If you've noticed a change in where you're feeling kicks like that, yes, she could well have dropped...but some babies drop weeks in advance, others do it while you're in labour...:) Good luck on the early thing...but it really is very early yet.
