I'm not sure why everyone thinks Don Mattingly is such a great choice. He has exactly ZERO wins as a major league manager.

I'd go with Tony LaRussa - who is an upgrade over Torre. Look at his career as a whole - he's won division titles with 3 organizations and 2 World Series - 1 in each league.

Your right. Tony LaRusso and Don Mattingly seem to be the most likely. NO ONE could do a better job than Torre. Not his fault Steinbrenner gave a 45 year old in the far twilight of his Hall of Fame career $17 million bucks.

No one could possibly replace Joe, but if it should occur, I would accept Joe Girardi. He has experience and he won NL Manager of the Year, eventhough I fell Willie Randolph should have won it. Mattingly would be okay but he never managed and LaRussa would be a bully. Maybe Lou Pinella will leave Chicago!?!

Hopefully, nobody! OL Joe is a great manager who is perfect for that organization.

I dont want to see Torre go, but Tony LaRussa wouldnt last a week in NY. My vote is for Giradi first and Mattingly second

A number of people...namely Don Mattingly (Yanks bench coach) or Tony La Russa.

Don Mattingly looks to be the next successor.

I think any competent manager could replace Torre and be equally effective.

Torre is a decent manager, but his success is a product of his environment. If you don't believe that, then check his record before coming to New York. As with most managers, he can with a good team, but he'll lose with a bad one.

Nobody, yes, nobody. He has won 4 World Series and myriad other titles. I don't know of any other manager who has a similar resume.

No one if you think about it, 4-1 in the world series 11 division titles and the respect of everyone of his players......that's something you can't replace.
